Bud & Rita's Avondale Dispensary
About Bud & Rita's Avondale Dispensary
Set on W Belmont Ave in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood, this spot stands out as much for its design as its product. Bud & Rita's Avondale Dispensary leans into a 1950s diner aesthetic with curved metal, pastel colors and a film-set quality that reviewers compare to Ed Debevic's or Happy Days. The 4.6 rating across 453 reviews tracks with what customers describe: patient budtenders, app help when needed, and budtenders like Kenny who reportedly take time to teach new shoppers without rushing. The hours are wide, running 9 AM to 10 PM most days and 9 AM to 9 PM on Sunday, so commuters and night-owl shoppers both get covered. Not flawless. One reviewer flagged a chilly winter morning experience involving a scooter, the waiting area, and a less-than-flexible security guard. But for cannabis shoppers in Avondale or anyone driving through Chicago's northwest side, this is one of the more visually distinct dispensaries in town and the service consistently lands well.
- 1950s diner-themed interior

Customer Reviews
Kenny was very helpful and nice. Very patient as we were setting up my online app WHICH I never knew that Bus& Rita's actually has a app. Until he mentioned it is. It blew my mind Wow. So now I can start shopping the online app now. Thanks Kenny
I’ve been a customer for years now and I always have a good experience. Today, however, I experienced outstanding service. Kenny went above and beyond during my visit. Kenny was incredibly patient, took the time to teach me how to use the app, and made sure I understood everything without rushing me. Their knowledge and kindness made the experience smooth and enjoyable. Truly excellent customer service! This location is definitely the best in the city.
Great service as always - Kenny was friendly but didn’t say anything when the guy in front of me cut the women in front of him lol. Other than that amazing! The Pink Zushi was fire too!
I was walking by this building today and it looks so beautiful! It should be a cafe! It reminds me of Ed Debebick’s Restaurant, mixed with Happy Days and Cuban 1950’s colors and style, topped off with a Pulp Fiction style film set. The curved metal, and pastel colors really hone in the 1950’s vibe. It’s the type of place where anyone who was born in the 1940’s-1950’s would love to Sock Hop in and talk about the dreamy boys in class over a malt. They have a small seating area in the back and mandatory ID checks in the front by an armed guard. If you go, take your grandparents with you. They will appreciate it.
Stopped by at 9:00 AM today in 7 degree weather and was told I couldn't park my scooter in the corner of the waiting area for the five minutes it would take for me to pick up my order. Well, I was eventually told that by an employee; the security guard wouldn't even do me the courtesy of opening the door to speak to me, he just gesticulated incomprehensibly through the window at me while I stood in the cold. This has not been an issue at any other dispensary. I was told that it would be a "safety hazard" because someone might knock it over, which is basically impossible when the handle is folded down. Bud and Rita, despite your miserable customer service, I will do you the courtesy of providing a free training module on how to not knock over a scooter for your apparently inept staff: Step 1: Don't knock over the scooter. End of lesson. Shop at Ivy Hall if you don't want your scooter stolen, folks.
