Johnny was incredible. I came in looking for recommendations to help with PTSD, and he took the time to really listen and understand what I needed. His knowledge of the strains was on point — everything he suggested ended up working exactly the way he described. He made the whole experience not just helpful, but genuinely fun and informative. It’s rare to find someone who can combine expertise with real kindness. If you’re stopping by The Hook, ask for Johnny. He made my day, and I’ll definitely be back because of him.

I came in for dabs, usually knowing exactly what I want, but I decided to try something different. Mellie was a huge help, as sometimes I struggle to explain what I'm looking for. I told her I wanted something high quality with great taste. At most places, they would’ve just sold me their house brand, but Mellie asked me an important question: "What are you smoking your dabs out of?" That was a great sales question, and at that moment, I knew I was in good hands. I told her I use a Puffco, and she mentioned that her husband is also an avid dabber and has a Puffco as well. She recommended I try 710 Concentrates, and it was a fantastic suggestion. The taste was amazing, and she explained that since it was badder, it would be easier to handle with my Puffco. The week prior, someone had recommended sauce, but that was a nightmare to deal with because of its watery consistency. Mellie deserves a raise. I haven’t received customer service this good since I bought a new car (and that was because they were trying to sell me something). Mellie genuinely wanted to make my experience better, and I really appreciated that. 10/10, I would definitely return. If you go, make sure to ask for Mellie if you want someone who goes above and beyond just the transaction.

I absolutely love The Hook! 💕 Always a friendly face whenever you walk in, best prices in ALL OF CALIFORNIA and great quality! I rarely write reviews for places and this one is way past due 😅 But if you're looking for surprisingly good quality + affordability, this is the place to be! Whenever I'm traveling out of Santa Cruz, I always make sure to hit The Hook before taking off!
